About the Tommy's

SIMPLE BEGINNINGS, SIMPLE PREMISE

Started in 2009, the Tommy's began with a simple premise:  A black-tie award ceremony to celebrate the achievement's of our friends and family throughout the year.  Our slogan was (and is), "We think it's finally time someone other than your mother told you you're great!".

HISTORY

The early years were hosted in Thomas' apartment near 18th and Boston.  This 900 sqft, shotgun style apartment was PACKED to the rafters with warm bodies the first week of June.  Every year the AC window units would freeze over  and by the end of the evening the apartment was well into the 100's.

We had years with spitting champagne fountains, years with balconies about to collapse, and years where everyone imbibed too much to stand.  As our group grew and matured, our venue did too, moving in the middle years to the VFW's Centennial Lounge.  Here we had a real bar, real band, and real projector.  The first year at the Post we set the all-time record for bar sales!

The awards continued to evolve with perennial winners getting awards named after them, better bands, more complex awards, and an ever growing number of attendees.

For the 10th year we are excited to announce our new format and look forward to celebrating our friends achievements, while also giving back to the community, for years to come.

ONLY A FEW RULES

The Tommy's  format, award categories, and venue have evolved over the years.  However it's always stuck to a few basic rules:

1.  You must attend to win.

2.  Flattery (or help) will get you every where (to winning).

3.  Black Tie (or best equivalent) is a must.

4.  Everyone is welcome!
